New Block options for 2- and 3-column blocks
Impact: Medium
Sections: Templates
Description: The 2- and 3-column blocks have had new options added to make them more versatile. If you’ve not used these blocks in the editor, they allow content to be split into multple columns, which include an image, title, paragraph and button. All of these can be toggled on or off within the block. The columns themselves can be given a separate background colour to the rest of the block.
On a mobile device, the columns will stack on top of each other rather than side-by-side, in order to keep things readable.
Previously, the margins on the block had a fixed margin to line up with the other block types.
Changes:
‘Show Gutter’
This will toggle the border around the image – you may need to increase the Image Size setting to get it to fill the full width of the column
‘Margin’
This will add an indent on the left and right side of the block. The default is 9, the same as the fixed-size margin the block had previously, so existing templates will still look the same.
‘Panel Gap’
Adds a gap in between the two columns
‘Toggle Panels’
Switch off one or more of the panels
‘Full Width On Mobile’
If the image is thinner than the panel, stretches the image out to the full width, when viewed on a mobile device. Default is on.
‘Show Margin On Mobile’
If a margin is set, use it in mobile view. If this is unchecked then the panels will be the full width of the document when viewed on a mobile device.
