Database Migration to Amazon RDS 9.0 for Enhanced Performance and Security

As part of ProFundCom’s ongoing commitment to performance, stability, and compliance, we are undertaking a full migration of all database instances from Amazon RDS for 8.0 to 9.0.

This migration follows Amazon’s announced deprecation of 8.0, which will reach end of community support in April 2026 and RDS end of standard support on July 31, 2026. Beyond that date, 8.0 will no longer receive bug fixes or security patches, and will only be available under Amazon’s Extended Support programme, which carries additional costs and risk exposure.

What We’re Doing

All ProFundCom database instances—production, staging, analytics, and reporting—are being proactively upgraded to 9.0 (RDS latest release). This move ensures:

  • Improved performance and query optimisation for analytics and reporting workloads
  • Enhanced stability under higher data volumes and concurrent connections
  • Upgraded security and encryption protocols, fully aligned with our SOC 2 and ISO 27001 compliance frameworks
  • Future-proof compatibility with AWS infrastructure upgrades through 2029

What This Means for Clients

This migration is entirely managed by the ProFundCom infrastructure team and requires no client action. All changes are handled within our AWS architecture using zero-downtime replication and staged cutovers.

  • There will be no impact on campaign delivery, reporting accuracy, or CRM integrations.
  • Data integrity is protected through live backups and multi-AZ replication.
  • All historical data, logs, and metadata are preserved in full.

Why It Matters

By moving to 9.0 now, we’re ensuring ProFundCom stays ahead of the AWS support curve while maintaining:

  • Optimal database performance for large-scale mailing analytics and LeadDeck queries
  • Secure encryption-at-rest and in-transit, aligned with SOC 2 and GDPR data handling standards
  • Operational resilience with faster failover and restore capabilities
  • Reduced risk exposure from using deprecated database versions

Migration Timeline

  • November 2025 – January 2026: Testing and shadow replication of existing datasets
  • February – April 2026: Production cutovers region by region (EU-West-1, US-East-1)
  • May 2026: Validation and monitoring period ahead of AWS 8.0 deprecation
  • July 31, 2026: Full migration complete ahead of AWS end-of-support deadline

Our Commitment to Security and Continuity

ProFundCom’s infrastructure roadmap continues to align tightly with AWS best practices and compliance expectations. This upgrade ensures uninterrupted service delivery while keeping every database instance under active vendor support — with no exposure to unpatched vulnerabilities or extended support surcharges.

Clients can rest assured that all migrations are monitored 24/7 by our engineering team, with full rollback and recovery plans tested in advance.
